Benefits of Yoga
Yoga is well-known for its numerous physical, mental, and spiritual benefits and has been studied as an effective complementary intervention for various medical and physical ailments.
Therapeutic Yoga - Certifications
Therapeutic yoga: I teach from a trauma-informed lens, certified to teach Hatha/Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Prenatal Yoga, and Mindful Eating/Meditation. In addition, I am registered with Yoga Alliance, and commited to continuing education. My wide range of offerings is designed to enhance the mind-body connection and increase overall strength and well-being.
Clinical Counselling and Support - Qualifications
Clinicial Counselling: I am Lisa Marie Young, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (R.C.C. #21260) with a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology. I am also trained to administer EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma reprocessing.
I offer support to adults/couples experiencing a wide range of challenges, including grief and loss, depression and anxiety, trauma and addictions, life transitions, infertility issues, and perinatal/postnatal wellness. I am experienced in supporting Adult ADHD, chronic pain, body image concerns, and those seeking to find more meaning and joy in their lives.
A Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) each bring unique skills to the table, but when combined, they offer a holistic approach to mental and physical well-being. An RCC is trained to provide therapeutic support, helping individuals navigate their emotional and psychological challenges through evidence-based techniques. They focus on mental health, offering guidance and strategies to cope with stress, anxiety, depression, and other psychological issues. On the other hand, an RYT specializes in teaching yoga, which promotes physical health, flexibility, and mindfulness. Yoga encourages a mind-body connection, fostering relaxation and stress relief through breath control, meditation, and physical postures. Together, these roles can complement each other beautifully; a professional who holds both certifications can offer comprehensive care that addresses both mind and body, enhancing overall wellness and promoting balance in their clients’ lives. This integrated approach can be particularly beneficial for those seeking to manage stress, improve mental health, and achieve a greater sense of peace and well-being.
